Synergy & Alignment Workshops
There are two workshops about Synergy & Alignment (S&A) for different participants. The first one is for staff members of various organisations that want to learn more about the philosophy of S&A, and how they can apply that in their organisations collaborating with other organisations.
The second one is for persons who are inspired by this philosophy and want to teach it to others.
Basic S&A Workshop
This introductory S&A workshop has a theoretical and a practical part so that the participants can understand the underlying principles and how to bring them into practice. In the morning, the participants will evaluate the existing collaborations. At the end of the workshop, they will leave with insights, practical tools, and suggestions on how to upgrade those collaborations and start new partnerships based on S&A so that their effects (impact) can be more extensive.
During this workshop, participants will learn and practice the following:
  • The principles of working together.
  • The principles of Synergy and Alignment.
  • Evaluation of current collaborations.
  • How can your work contribute to others.
  • How can you make use of the results of others.
  • Making an action plan to increase S&A in existing collaborations.
Practical information:
  • A typical workshop has in total 12 to 30 participants (from at least four different organisations).
  • This workshop lasts a day.
  • After three months, a Refresher day will take place to learn how to apply what one discovered in the intermediate period and during the session to daily work.

S&A-Facilitator Licensing Workshop
The solution to boosting Synergy & Alignment between actors
A facilitator is someone who engages in facilitation, any activity that makes a social process easy or more manageable. A facilitator often helps a group of people to understand their common objectives and assists them in planning how to achieve these objectives; in doing so, the facilitator remains “neutral”, meaning he/she does not take a particular position in the discussion (source: Wikipedia).
An S&A-Facilitator is a person who has the skills to inspire and train staff from various types of organisations to understand the principles of S&A and encourage and support them to put S&A into practice. Staff can be from organisations that execute development activities, provide humanitarian aid, do research, perform commercial activities, or do the planning.
As a Licensed S&A Facilitator (LSAF), you help people become change agents through creating Synergy and Alignment of actions towards the goals defined by planners at different levels of scale. You allow the various stakeholders to find ways to become more efficient, and subsequently, increase impact. You help them affect resource management and increase empowerment of collaborating implementing organisations.
During this workshop, participants will learn and practice the following:
  • How to facilitate a workshop (do’s and don’ts).
  • How to explain the principles of Synergy and Alignment.
  • Explaining and exercises about Synergy and Alignment (see also the Basic S&A workshop).
Practical information:
  • This workshop has 12 to 16 participants who have followed the Basic S&A Workshop.
  • This Licensing workshop lasts a full day, including the evening.
  • After three months, a Refresher day will take place to learn how to apply what one discovered in the intermediate period and during the session to daily work.
